Book Review "What on Earth Am I Here For?" by Rick Warren (part 5)

Hello again in my blog. So I want to continue the previous post about book review "What on Earth Am I Here For?" by Rick Warren. Here is the fifth chapter of the book. Without any useless chit-chat, so here we go!

5. Seeing Life From God's View

The way you see your life, shapes your life. So, "How do you see your life?"

Your unspoken life metaphor influences your life more than you realize. Here are 3 metaphors that teach us God's view of life:

  1. Life on earth is a TEST
For example, God tested Abraham by asking him to offer Isaac; God tested Jacob by work extra years to earn Rachel as his wife. Character is both developed and revealed by tests, all of life is a test. You're always being tested. A very important test is how you act when you can't feel God's presence in your life.

When you understand that life is a test, you realize that nothing is insignificant in your life. Bible says in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "God never test us beyond our power"; James 1:12, "God give us reward in eternity if we pass the test."

     2.  Life on earth is a TRUST

We own nothing in world, God just loans it to us while we are here. Use it wisely since the time is short, and since God put trust on us (1 Corinthians 4:7). Because God owns it, we must take the best care of it that I possibly can (1 Corinthians 4:2). At the end of life on earth, we'll be evaluated and rewarded according to how well we handled what God entrusted, even simple daily chores, has internal implications. If you treat everything as a "trust", God promises 3 rewards in eternity (Matthew 25:21):
1. God's affirmation
2. God's promotion
3. God's celebration
How we manage our money (worldly wealth) determines how much God can trust us with spiritual blessings (true riches) - Luke 12:48.

Life is a test and trust, and the more God gives you, the more responsible He expects you to be.

Question to Consider:
How have you described life?
Think past experiences where you can see now that God was testing you?
How you change the way you feel about your possessions since we loan from God?
